Steeple Langford April Newsletter 2017
Well what a glorious start to the Spring! Some amazing early April showers (and hail storms!) alongside some beautifully warm and sunny afternoons. One afternoon was so warm in March, that we got out some spray bottles and had a water fight with the children.😊
Our children really enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day with some marvellous outfits and many homemade so well done to our clever parents who managed those!
We’ve been exploring music, songs and rhymes throughout March. Our Top Conker children have learnt a lot about classical music and the feelings it can summon up in you. Some said that Swan lake was a happy song and inspired an impromptu ballet session in the sunshine on the field; Others recognised that Holst’s planets – Mars had a big, strong, fighting type feeling to it (imagine boys with their fists clenched and faces all screwed up explaining it to their mummies).
We held our Excellence Day on the 28th March. We had 15 practitioners from across Wiltshire come to observe us doing what we do best, outdoor learning. We had lots of lovely feedback from the visitors and the children liked showing them their outdoor environment and how to make the very most of it. My favourite part of the day was when one of our Top Conker little ladies had four visiting adults sat around her whilst she held her very own circle time, she then had them rolling across the grass and out of the bed whilst teaching them the song “There were four in a bed”. The whole experience made us even more proud to be a part of Farley and its outdoor learning ethos.
Thank you to all the Mummies and some Grandmothers who joined us for our Mothers’ Day Tea. We had 26 join us in total and tea and cake was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
For Comic Relief we had a wacky hair and colourful clothing day. We would like to say thank you to all the parents for their donations, our final total was £425 across all three of our nurseries. There were some brilliantly clashing colours and crazy hairstyles on show and one of our lovely ladies even fashioned herself her very own beard haha!
April brings with it a Spring theme. If any of our parents have any baby animals at home or work place then please speak to our staff about arranging a visit for the children to meet them and we would be very grateful. We will also be looking at life cycles and changes of the season. We are hoping to start developing our ‘secret garden’ too so if any of our parents are particularly green fingered and want to come and share those skills then also please do not hesitate to speak to us about coming in.
