Steeple Langford March Newsletter 2017
Haven’t we had a very chilly February! We have definitely made the most of our new yurt, enjoying circle time, singing and stories under the shelter of the canvas and the warmth of the wood burning stove. We are currently developing our Secret Garden surrounding the yurt and hope to create a sensory garden full of herbs and plants of various smells and colours, ready for the spring.
Our Garden has now been extended by a lovely new fence thanks to Gad Wiltshire. The Secret Garden will soon be free flow from the field, for the children to explore at their leisure.
Our Valentines meal went down very well with the children. They all enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs, with flowers on the tables and some love hearts surrounding them. On Shrove Tuesday pancake races were thoroughly enjoyed by all and the children gave pancake tossing a really good go too.
Steeple Langford are very pleased to have continued to welcome new children throughout February. We are becoming increasingly busy, particularly between 8 and 9 o’clock. Could I take this opportunity to remind parents that we have to adhere to strict adult:child ratios and our shifts are organised to allow for the children booked in at their specified times. Can I ask that children booked in at 9 o’clock are not left at the nursery until this time. We are very happy for you to come and prepare your child for the days weather, but you must stay on the premises until 9 o’clock when our next group of staff start their shift.
March arrived rather quickly as it always does after such a short month of February. We are having a dress up day for World Book Day on the 2nd March. Please send your children in dressed as a character from their favourite book. I am sure were going to see some lovely costumes, both homemade and bought ☺
Throughout March we will be continuing our Book theme and also looking at poems and music, including the Owl and the Pussy cat, Dr.Seuss and differing genres of music. If you play an instrument and would like to come in and share your skill with our children then please speak to your child’s Key Person and arrange a visit. Equally we would be happy to welcome any parent who would like to come and read some stories to the children.
On the 22nd March, just before Mothers Day we will be having a Mothers Day Tea. All of our lovely Mummies are invited in with their children to enjoy tea and cake and then some songs and stories in our yurt by the fire.
At the end of the month we are holding an Excellence Day. There will be a group of Practitioners from across the West Country coming to see how we make the most of our outdoor environment. They will be with us all day and have a chance to play alongside the children and staff and learn how to benefit children attending their settings from using the outdoors to its best advantage.
