Steeple Langford June Newsletter 2017
Well what beautiful weather we have been having recently! Apart from that crazy wet day we had but I’m sure you saw the photos on Instagram!
May has been so beautiful. We have had water fights, enjoyed ice poles in the sunshine, built some amazing big builds and den structures to create shade and started to really enjoy our Summer. We have carrots, beans and pumpkins to look forward to eating later in the year and planted some lovely flowers in our sensory garden too.
Our Farley Festival is just around the corner and we have been steadily planning to make it an entertaining event. We will have lots of exciting activities going on, games to play, a bake off to enter and lots of music and dancing, fun to be had by all! Can I ask that parents let us know how many people from their families are attending and whether or not they will be camping. I will be sending out an email with more details of the event so keep an eye on your inbox.
We have been looking at Occupations throughout May and would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our parents who came in to speak to our children about their job roles and share their equipment, practice and knowledge with us. We have had visits from a soldier, two different nurses, a ballet teacher, an Occupational Therapist and a meditation teacher. The children really enjoyed every visit and came away knowing much more about the different occupations they may like to go into as the grow up and the visits have inspired some lovely role play activities as well.
Throughout June we will be looking at Healthy Living. We will be looking at ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy. Lots of exercise and the importance of healthy eating too. Please support us in this by continuing to send your children in with healthy lunches, low sugar and salt intake and an open mind to the introduction of a variety of foods is so important for children to develop a healthy relationship with food. The staff will be leading by example by joining in with some tasting activities and playing lots of team sports with the children.
If we have any parents who teach Yoga or Pilates then we would love you to come in and do some with the children. Also any parents who teach fitness classes or play a team sport who would like to come in, then you would be most welcome.
Our Healthy Living month is nicely finished off with Sports day on the 5th July. We will be having races for all the children, followed by parents, staff and sibling races too. The races will be followed by a lovely cream tea. If you bring the scones then we will provide the rest. The parents races get pretty competitive, so it may be advisable to start training now haha!
