Well who can believe we are nearly half way through the year already, 2013 is definitely flying past! After a very long and cold winter, we have started to see a change in the weather finally this week; it has been wonderful to see the children and staff in t-shirts enjoying the sunshine!! (Although I am not sure for how long!)
Everyone at Steeple Langford would like to thank the parents for all the kind donations to our fundraising activities for Comic Relief. With Nikki dying her hair red and lots of fabulous baking from everyone, we managed to raise over £380.
As you will know by now Hannah, who was based in Top Conker with Nikki, has moved over to Farley to work on a permanent basis. All of the staff and children will miss her a great deal and we wish her the best of luck. In June we happily welcome back Jade from her maternity leave. Jade will be taking on a role in Top Conker working alongside Nikki and Sammy, whilst her baby Daryl will be starting in Marigold.
Thank you for taking the time out to vote for staff member of the month. Laura from Bee Garden was the winner for April. So well done Laura!
I will be sending out a regularly monthly email that informs all of the parents about the topics that are happening throughout the nursery and any special events that are taking place throughout the month, so look out for that.
Our Around the World topic has been a great success! A special thank you goes out to Stephane Barbey, Pauline Moore and Natalie Warren for coming in to the nursery and demonstrating a variety of skills. Stephane read stories to everyone in French, Pauline taught the children to count in Swahili, Natalie sang to the children in Spanish, and of course the lovely Gary Palmer who cooked a wonderful barbeque during our Australian week! Our topic throughout June is the Armed Forces so please feel free to get involved.
We have decided to change the learning journals that we currently use for all of the children’s observations, they are now going to be called Our Farley Adventure Books! The books will contain the same information, including regular observations of each child and a progress tracking document. Please feel free to ask your child’s key person to have a look and then add your own special moments from home. This is a book to be treasured when you leave Farley!
We are now regularly updating the Farley face book and twitter pages. There are pictures of the fun activities both Farley and Steeple Langford have been doing, so please like and share the page and spread the word about Farley Nursery School.
