Free Entitlement – What is it and who gets it? The Government provides (pays for) free places for all three [...]

Free Entitlement – What is it and who gets it?

The Government provides (pays for) free places for all three year olds at all nursery settings in England and Wales.

This is great for Parents and children.

The Free Entitlement is available to all three year old children from the term after their 3rd birthday until they attend school. However it is limited to fifteen hours a week over thirty-eight weeks of the year only. When it is gone, it is gone! The remaining weeks are charged to Parents at the going rate.

Wiltshire Council set the rate at which the Free Entitlement is paid to settings at the start of every financial year.

The rate for FE from Wiltshire Council varies but is currently £3.40. So Parents are getting £4.85 an hour worth of childcare totally free and Farley only gets £3.40 back from the Government. Please check with your setting that you will be getting your entitlement free as it is illegal to charge top ups for the fifteen hours under the scheme.

Please email info@farleynurseryschool.com for more information. Thank you

Everyone at Steeple Langford is thrilled for their colleagues back at Farley after hearing the wonderful news about the Ofsted visit. Soon it will be their turn and veryone is working really hard to ensure that the first Ofsted visit is as good as it can be.

There is an amazing amount of activity going on at Steeple Langford right now. The outdoor space is getting a make over – plans are underway for a super sized sand pit; all the winter leaves have been cleared away and the pond is being “sorted out” after a period of neglect. Look out for the frogs! The field will be swinging into full use soon, too, but you’ll have to wait and see what’s in store out there!

Having survived most of the winter, Staff and Children alike are now really looking forward to making the most of their wonderful surroundings. Not just in the lovely field, but also with walks down to the river and also to Langford Lakes.

Every time of year is special at Farley, but everyone loves the Spring, with the wonderful feeling of warmth and hope you get and the promise of a lovely summer just around the corner.
